Roberta Sewell - 1985 Biography

I'm a single parent with one child (Mike - age 12). We have lived in Gaylord for the past 13 years. I play the organ at church and direct the choir. Mike and I have traveled extensively throughout the eastern and midwest United States and Canada. We enjoy camping and canoeing as well as cross country skiing.

(Work)
I'm a teacher at Venderbilt. I teach English, Health, Literature and Public Speaking. I'm a certified CPR instructor, a basketball and softball coach, class sponsor and yearbook advisor. I am also the director of a Special Needs Camp for handicapped people during the summer.

(Interesting things)
I received my BA degree from Graceland College - Iowa and received my continuing certificate from Michigan. I have 18 hours towards my Masters from CMU. I worked for one year before going to college, spent 2 years teaching in Atlanta and 2 years working for the county Parks and Recreation before I started teaching in Vanderfilt. This is my 10th year teaching in Vanderfilt. I have been camping, canoeing on senior trips, etc. with anywhere from 2 to twenty students anytime during the year. (If you haven't tried it you've missed out on some wonderful and challenging experiences.)
