John (Jack) Wheeler - 2000 Biography

I did not graduate from Gaylord, but left while in the 6th grade due to my parents divorce. Mr. Snell was my last teacher. (yes, Judi's daddy). I spent summers and maintained friendships in Gaylord until my junior year in H.S...My sister Debi and I have such a strong desire to "come back" and sort of "tie up loose ends" and hopefully discover what "happened" with things and acquaintances. We feel a void in our lives because of the disruption of making that kind of change, at that age. I have hopes that this reunion and the time spent in the area will help to fill most of that void. My thanks go out to Jan White, Bob Nickerson, Herb Brock, Cathy "Evans" Otto, and Phyllis "House" for all of their time and help, with photos, email, and phone calls.

I graduated from Lake Orion H.S., Oakland County, in 1965. Went into the service from 1966 - 1968, was a member of the West Bloomfield Police Dept. 1968 - 1975, a State Criminal Investigator 1975 - 1978, worked for GM in security and internal investigations, 1978 - 1988, a photography/video production business owner, 1988 - 1991 and now from 1991 to the present time, I am back at the West Bloomfield P.D. as an Evidence/Property Tech. I also enjoy part-time summer work as a Ranger for the Huron-Clinton Metro Parks Authority. I also was "blessed" with the experience of being on the movie sets for 3 months, having bit parts as a cop in two films, Hoffa and Full Blast, neither made it big in gross sales but it gave me the opportunity to meet the actors and find about what it was "all about". Having to take a leave of absence from my normal job to do this didn't make my employer happy, but hey, you have to reach out and take advantage of things when they pass by, as one may never get a second chance!

I have been married twice and have four children, the youngest, Brad, 18 years, and at home. He will be attending college in the fall. Kim, Mellissa and Kirk have been living in Hawaii for the last 20 years. Kirk remains single and having a good time and there are four grandchildren from the girls. I am still searching, trying to find out what I want to be when I "grow up". I think I still have a little time left to do that!
