David (Dave) D. Washburn, 63, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Tender Care of Gaylord, after an extended illness.
David was born on Feb. 14, 1946, the son of Henry C. and Donna M. (Langin) Washburn in Alma, Mich. David was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Donna M. Washburn; his son, Daniel Washburn; brother, Henry D. Washburn; and his brother-in-law, Robert Peffers.
He was a member of the MMPA (Michigan Milk Producers Association) and drove a semi and hauled milk for many years in the surrounding area. He worked for many companies including Washburn Trucking, McMurphy Trucking, Tradition Transport/Truck Service.
David is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Buck) Colyer of Petoskey, Jennifer (Tyrel Olund) Gapinski of Gaylord, Daisy McMurphy of Gaylord, Alicia Washburn of Gaylord; his son, David Jr. (Jessica McGovern) Washburn of Gaylord; his seven grandchildren, Brenden, Zackary, Joshua, Aiden, Hannah, Conner and Teagan; also his sister, Diana Peffers of Pella, Iowa; and brother, William (Catherine) Washburn of Gaylord. David also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion and friend, Debbie Washburn of Gaylord.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at 1 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home of Gaylord.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family through the Nelson Funeral Home.
