Sue Lick - 1995 Biography

Since our last reunion I legally took my birth name back but am still married to my husband of 24 years, Jim Beug.  Our parents, Sylvia and Bill Lick, who lived their retirement in Boyne Falls, died in 1991 and 1992.  Our younger daughter, Annie (17), returns from a foreign exchange year in Iceland on July 4, one reason why I won't be attending the reunion.  She will start her studies as a computer science major this fall at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where Jim and I teach.  Our older daughter, Alison, is now a student at Cal Poly.

We've managed to get to France, Germany and Scandinavia several times for professionally related and personal travel.  Enrollments in French are down nationwide, and especially at a polytechnic university with language minors, so I only taught one quarter this past academic year; therefore, I'm exploring other areas.  I've spent my free time exploring the Internet for its instructional uses in foreign language education and am currently working with a colleague on a multimedia project in French and German at Cal Poly.  I also spend free time with the local AFS (exchange student organization) chapter.
