John Dickman - 2016 Biography
(Family)
We had three children and adopted a boy from Romania as our youngest. We lost our second son before his thirteenth birthday to cancer in 1994. Our youngest is now a graduate student at New York University in Social Work. My oldest is a writer who graduated from Ohio State University :(. My daughter is a musician who plays the double bass. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA degree in bass performance and earned a MFA from Indiana University.
(Work)
I retired from NASA after 22 years as a Senior Research Scientist. After NASA, I was a Chief Scientist for a defense contractor then retired to write science fiction. I have two books in final edit and four short stories. We live just outside Hell (MI). I have been substitute teaching for the past five years grades K-12. Substitute teaching either energizes you or kills you or both.
