Marjorie Ames - 2000 Biography
The last reunion I attended was in '75. I can't believe it's been 25 years,
wow, where has the time gone? I look forward to seeing everyone again. I hope
Gail and Penny will be attending? I haven't seen Gail since graduation. I last
saw Penny when she came to my wedding in '68 and the '75 reunion. I imagine most
of us have put on a few pounds and gained some wrinkles, except Gail, she will
probably still be thin as a rail! At least she was thin in the '85 reunion
picture. Remember Mr. Granlund's history class? We sat next to each other and
you used to get your Avon hand cream out and squirt it on my hands? I really
liked that, 'cauce my hands were always so dry.
Okay, so what's new with me since '85? Well? I sold my secretarial business
in 1996. Switched careers and joined Century 21 selling residential real estate
for five years. Was tired of living in a megalopolis and wanted to be near lots
of water so moved to Key West, Fl in February of 1992 and survived Hurricane
Andrew in August. While there my significant other and I worked in the tourism
industry and had a ball! We partied a lot and received many perks on all the fun
boat day and evening excursions. We moved to Indian Rocks Beach a year later and
lived a block from the Gulf. I took a year off and spent time tending my rose
garden, walking the sandy beaches and enjoying the beautiful sunsets in the
evening with a glass of wine. I moved to Kalamazoo in April of '95 to become a
grandmother. My granddaughter will be five years old in June. Her name is Sarah
Lee-Ann. Presently I own Catering Affair, a catering business here in the
Kalamazoo area. David Allen and I have been married four years.
